He planned to carry out another stabbing attack if his colleagues would have been shot and killed in the process of the attack. One of the suspects’ mother was arrested last week at a checkpoint in Jerusalem on suspicion that she planned to attack security forces present at the site.

SU ORDINE ESPLICITO DELLA SHARIA SAUDITA ] [ Etiopia: uccisa una cristiana. ex-musulmana Sintesi: la comunità cristiana di un'area a maggioranza musulmana, a sud della capitale etiope Addis Abeba, è in lutto dopo l'uccisione, a fine marzo, di una cristiana ex-musulmana. La morte della donna però, ha spinto due suoi figli e una sua amica a convertirsi. Workitu era una donna sulla cinquantina. Gli abitanti del villaggio in cui viveva, quando si sono accorti dell'accaduto, hanno portato Workitu in una clinica di una città vicina, ma, per la gravità della situazione, dopo 4 giorni la donna è stata inviata ad un ospedale più grande ed è morta durante il trasporto. I due aggressori sono stati arrestati dalla polizia e accusati di omicidio.

I cristiani locali hanno riferito a Porte Aperte che Workitu si era convertita al cristianesimo lo scorso agosto e che, in tutti questi mesi, è stata regolarmente percossa da parte del marito e minacciata di morte da alcuni membri della comunità in cui viveva per convincerla a tornare all'islam. Lei era l'unica cristiana nella sua famiglia allargata.

Nel mese di febbraio Workitu aveva anche scritto, su consiglio di alcuni cristiani, una lettera alla polizia e ai funzionari del governo locale per segnalare la situazione, dato che temeva per la sua vita. Tuttavia, secondo alcune fonti locali, i funzionari hanno ignorato la sua richiesta di protezione e ora negano di aver mai ricevuto la lettera.
I cristiani di tutta la zona si sono riuniti in massa in paese per il funerale di Workitu e hanno circondato di amore i suoi figli. Due di loro hanno deciso di seguire Cristo. Lei era l'unica cristiana della famiglia, ma i ragazzi hanno detto che ora vogliono conoscere quel Signore che la loro madre adorava. Anche un'altra abitante del villaggio, molto amica della donna, ha deciso di seguire Cristo.

"Workitu è come Stefano", ha commentato un evangelista locale. "Sarebbe stata onorata di sapere che la sua morte ha condotto a nuova vita i suoi figli. Sarebbe stata estremamente felice se avesse potuto assistere alla loro decisione di seguire Cristo”.

1. Solicitar al Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU que reconozca como genocidio los actos cometidos por el llamado "ISIS / Daesh" contra los cristianos y otras minorías religiosas.
2. Pedimos a la ONU que active los mecanismos de protección de los grupos minoritarios perseguidos (de acuerdo con el principio de responsabilidad de proteger), así como el castigo de los criminales (según lo dispuesto por la Convención sobre el Genocidio).
Instamos a los miembros del Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas que apoyen la remisión por el Consejo de Seguridad a la Corte Penal Internacional, con el fin de investigar violaciones cometidos en Irak y Siria por el llamado "ISIS / Daesh" contra los cristianos, yazidis, y otra minorías religiosas y étnicas.
Pedimos a la comunidad internacional que garantice el derecho al retorno de los refugiados y los desplazados con las máximas garantías, y que les proporcionen protección y ayuda, incluida la protección militar y la ayuda, de conformidad con el derecho internacional, a todas las personas perseguidas por el "ISIS / Daesh" y otras organizaciones terroristas.

Proporcionar unas asistencia integral mejor y más rápida (incluyendo la salud y la atención psicosocial) que atienda las consecuencias a largo plazo de la violencia sexual en situación de conflicto en mujeres, hombres, niños y sus familias, incluyendo los niños nacidos como consecuencia de la violencia sexual.
Asegurar que todos los procesos de mediación en conflictos, paz y seguridad reconozcan explícitamente la necesidad de prevenir, reducir y responder los delitos de violencia sexual en los conflictos y dejen claro la necesidad de excluir estos crímenes de las disposiciones de amnistía.
Continuar combatiendo enérgicamente la impunidad de los medios adecuados, como el apoyo y el fomento de la aplicación del Protocolo Internacional para la Documentación e Investigación de la violencia sexual en los conflictos (2014), destinado a promover la rendición de cuentas por los crímenes de violencia sexual en el derecho internacional en una nuevo esfuerzo global para romper la cultura de la impunidad, ayudar a los supervivientes, y disuadir a la gente de cometer estos delitos.
4. Solicitar a la Asamblea General de la ONU que recomiende a todos los países que instituyan el Día Universal de la Libertad Religiosa que se observe como un día de reconocimiento a nivel mundial de este derecho fundamental. At a joint press conference with British Prime Minister, David Cameron, Obama defended his intrusion into British politics in taking sides on the controversial and divisive Brexit (UK withdrawal from the European Union) debate. In an op-ed, Obama came down squarely on the side of Britain remaining in the European Union – a decision I tend to agree with on its merits. But he was much criticized by the British media and British politicians for intruding into a debate about the future of Europe and Britain’s role in it.
Obama defended his actions by suggesting that in a democracy, friends should be able to speak their minds, even when they are visiting another country: “If one of our best friends is in an organization that enhances their influence and enhances their power and enhances their economy, then I want them to stay in. Or at least I want to be able to tell them ‘I think this makes you guys bigger players.'” Nor did he stop at merely giving the British voters unsolicited advice, he also issued a not-so-veiled threat. He said that “the UK is going to be in the back of the queue” on trade agreements if they exit the EU.
Obama must either have a short memory or adhere to Emerson’s dictum that “foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” Recall how outraged the same President Obama was when the prime minister of a friendly country, Benjamin Netanyahu, spoke his mind about the Iran Deal. [ * Netanyahu addresses US Congress in March 2015 against nuclear deal with Iran. ] There are, of course, differences: first, Israel has a far greater stake in the Iran Deal than the United States has in whatever decision the British voters make about Brexit: and second, Benjamin Netanyahu was representing the nearly unanimous view of his countrymen, whereas there is little evidence of whether Americans favor or oppose Brexit in large numbers. Another difference, of course, is that Obama was invited to speak by Cameron, whereas, Netanyahu was essentially disinvited by Obama. But under our tripartite system of government — which is different than Britain’s Unitary Parliamentary system — that fact is monumentally irrelevant. Netanyahu was invited by a co-equal branch of the government, namely Congress, which has equal authority over foreign policy with the president and equal authority to invite a friendly leader. Moreover, not only are the British voters divided over Brexit, but Britain’s Conservative Party itself is deeply divided. Indeed, the leading political figure in opposition to Britain remaining in the European Union is a potential successor to Cameron as leader of the Conservative Party. So these differences certainly don’t explain the inconsistency between Obama’s interference in British affairs and his criticism of Netanyahu for accepting an invitation from Congress to express his country’s views on an issue directly affecting its national security.
So which is it, Mr. President? Should friends speak their minds about controversial issues when visiting another country, or should they keep their views to themselves? Or is your answer that friends should speak their minds only when they agree with other friends, but not when they disagree? Such a view would skew the market place of ideas beyond recognition. If friends should speak about such issues, it is even more important to do so when they disagree. [ * Obama’s ‘Apparent Hypocrisy and Inconsistency’ ] A wit once observed that “hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue.” It is also the currency of diplomacy and politics. That doesn’t make it right.
The president owes the American people, and Benjamin Netanyahu, an explanation for his apparent hypocrisy and inconsistency. Let there be one rule that covers all friends – not one for those with whom you agree and another for those with whom you disagree. For me the better rule is open dialogue among friends on all issues of mutual importance. Under this rule, which President Obama now seems to accept, he should have welcomed Prime Minister Netanyahu’s advocacy before Congress, instead of condemning it. He owes Prime Minister Netanyahu an apology, and so do those Democratic members of Congress who rudely stayed away from Netanyahu’s informative address to Congress. The arrests followed intelligence suggesting that the three Palestinians had boasted about planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Jerusalem during the Passover holiday, Israel’s Channel 10 reported. Security forces set up roadblocks around Jerusalem ahead of the raid on the trio’s hideout in Jabel Mukaber. The Shin Bet called the raid “routine.”
Israel’s Channel 2 reported that investigators believe the three Palestinians, who were apparently waiting for a weapons delivery at the time of their arrest, were planning an attack combining firearms and explosives.
Israeli security forces are on high alert nationwide during the seven-day Passover holiday, especially in Jerusalem, where Muslim-Jewish tensions on the Temple Mount have made the holy site particularly volatile.

The scarab was discovered a few months ago by Alexander Tarnopolsky, an amateur ornithologist. He handed it to the archeologists at the excavation site and now it has been cleaned and identified. It was likely exposed by the winter rains that moved some area soil in recent months.
The seal, made of stone, is engraved in Egyptian hieroglyphic writing with the name of its owner, his role, and several signs, including the Ankh—the ancient character that reads “life,” and the pillar-like Djed symbol representing resurrection and stability. The name of the seal’s owner is yet to be decoded, but his role is described as “He who is on the treasury,” and “Carrier of the seal.”
Gilboa said “the owner of the scarab seal had a role similar to that of [biblical] Joseph’s in the Pharaoh’s kingdom, after he interpreted the king’s dreams.”
According to Prof. Ilan Sharon of the Hebrew University, who is also in charge of the excavations, the scarab is rare because it is surrounded by a gold ring and because it belonged to such a high official. “We normally discover scarabs with the names of kings, which were mass produced,” said Prof. Sharon. “It’s rare to find something this exceptional in our country.”By: JNI.Media

Israel’s first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, was the first Israeli leader to find himself at odds with Washington. In the spring of 1948, President Harry Truman instructed the State Department to pressure Ben-Gurion to postpone declaring the establishment of Israel. Truman made good on that threat. Although he extended diplomatic recognition to the newborn Jewish State, the president imposed a total arms embargo on Israel throughout the War of Independence. Nevertheless, Ben-Gurion never regretted his decision to declare statehood. The administration of President Dwight Eisenhower, too, expressed Biden-like “frustration” with the Israelis. Secretary of State John Foster Dulles demanded that Israel agree to let Jerusalem be ruled by “the world religious community.” Eisenhower’s State Department declared in 1953 that Jewish immigration to Israel from around the world was making the Arab nations feel threatened, so Israel needed to “re-examine its policy of encouraging large-scale immigration.” Eisenhower’s frustration with Ben-Gurion reached new levels after Israel’s pre-emptive strike against Egypt’s Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1956. The president told aides that he considered Ben-Gurion an “extremist” and questioned the Israeli prime minister’s “balance and rationality.” James Reston of the New York Times reported this colorful illustration of the president’s anger toward Ben-Gurion: “The White House crackled with barracks room language the like of which had not been heard since the days of General Grant.” Those insults were soon translated into concrete steps, as the Eisenhower administration blocked U.S. assistance to Israel and threatened to impose sanctions unless Ben-Gurion ceded territory to Nasser.
President John F. Kennedy, for his part, was frustrated by Ben-Gurion’s refusal to acknowledge that Israel was developing nuclear weapons. Meeting in New York City in May 1961, JFK pressed the Israeli leader for details on what was taking place at the Dimona nuclear research facility.

In his book The Secret Conversations of Henry Kissinger, Matti Golan, the chief diplomatic correspondent for Ha’aretz, revealed what happened next. President Gerald Ford sent Rabin a telegram that was “tough, even brutal.” Ford “ominously warned of damaging relations between Israel and the United States” if Rabin failed to “consent to Egypt’s conditions.” When Rabin hesitated, Ford announced that Israel was to blame for the failure of the negotiations, and said the U.S. would undertake a “reassessment” of its Mideast policy. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger cranked up the pressure by giving a series of off-the-record briefings to reporters in which he blasted Israel’s leaders. Kissinger himself proved to be remarkably petty. He “directed that the special line connecting his office to the Israeli embassy should be removed”; all telephone calls by Israeli ambassador Simcha Dinitz to Kissinger were now transferred to Kissinger’s aides; and “when they met at Washington gatherings, it was no longer ‘Simcha,’ but ‘Mr. Ambassador.'” A worried Rabin tried to appease Washington by announcing a unilateral withdrawal of some of Israeli troops from near the Suez Canal. Washington’s response? “Kissinger let it be leaked to the press that he regarded the Israeli gesture as meaningless.” When Rabin visited Washington in June, the pressure intensified, according to Golan: “Ford warned Rabin right away that the approaching American elections would not get Israel off the hook. If there was no agreement with Egypt, Ford said, the United States would go to Geneva with a plan of its own, even if it lost him votes and stirred up opposition in Congress.” Confronted by these pressures, Rabin and his cabinet “simply caved in.”
Whether Likud or Labor, more than a few Israeli prime ministers have been stung by the barbs of a “frustrated” White House. No doubt the Israeli leaders have, in turn, felt frustrated that some American presidents have seemed to give short shrift to Israel’s legitimate security concerns. The good news is that an occasional outburst by an official on either side is no reason for panic; the America-Israel alliance has withstood may challenges and no doubt will withstand others in the future.

[It] does not reflect my views and I apologize for any offense it has caused,” Shah said in a statement. “I made these posts at the height of the Gaza conflict in 2014, when emotions were running high around the Middle East conflict. But that is no excuse for the offense I have given.” “I will be seeking to expand my existing engagement and dialogue with Jewish community organisations and will be stepping up my efforts to combat all forms of racism, including anti-Semitism,” she stated. The Shem Olam Holocaust and Faith Institute announced that a worn-out Hagadah, along with some other Passover items, hidden at the Chelmno Death Camp in Poland has been discovered upon excavations at the site. The Hagadah was evidently badly desecrated by the Nazis, who had burnt it, yet passages related to the search for Hametz and other sections did manage to survive.
The Shem Olam Holocaust and Faith Institute was founded in 1996 by Rabbi Avraham Kreiger, with the express purpose of focusing on “the coping of the community and the spirit during the Shoah,” claiming, “This perspective reveals and analyses the wellsprings of spirit and the powers of the soul which stood firm” during a “fateful test.” The Shem Olam Holocaust and Faith Institute believes that this allows for a better understanding for the struggle between the Jewish faith and pure “destruction, evil and degeneration.”

Most of the death camps had no such items left behind, but since Chelmno was the first death camp on Polish soil, the Nazis had yet to have at their disposal a sophisticated apparatus and consequently, some of the property was buried, and survived.”
chelmnoThe Chelmno Death Camp was in operation from December 7, 1941 through March 1943. It resumed its operations on June 23, 1944, yet was closed down on January 17, 1945. Between 150,000 and 300,000 people were slaughtered in the Chelmno Death Camp when it was in operation, with most of the victims being Jews. It was at Chelmno that the first mass killings by gas of Jews took place as part of the Nazi Final Solution, which sought to eliminate the Jewish people from the face of the planet as part of the worst genocide in human history. Six million Jews would be murdered by the Nazis, comprising two thirds of the Jewish community that existed in Europe at that time. Each afternoon, Jews would be brought into the Chelmno Death camp, where their valuables were confiscated and they were forced to undress. The Nazis told them that they would be transferred to a work camp, but that they needed to shower first. The Nazis then shoved them into a van disguised as a washroom. When about 50-70 people were crammed inside, the Nazis shut the door and gassed the people inside to their deaths. Jews, wearing irons on their bodies to prevent their escape, were forced to bury fellow Jews in mass graves. Another group of Jewish slaves sorted out the deceased Jews belongings so that the Third Reich could utilize them.
